Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence

As an innovative, technology-driven organization, we strive to harness the potential of Digital Technology (DT) to enhance innovation, continuous improvement, and quality while prioritizing patient safety and regulatory compliance.

We recognize industry common practices that define Digital Technology into three levels: Automation, Data Insights and Artificial Intelligence.  Our commitment is to leverage DT in an ethical, transparent, and responsible manner. Below are our guiding principles with respect to the development and implementation of DT for use by PCI:

  • We ensure that all DT applications used by PCI are appropriately risk assessed, and comply with applicable laws and regulations, including those relating to data privacy and Good Practice Guidelines and Regulations (cGxP).
  • We utilize DT to enhance or improve PCI’s manufacturing processes, quality, and supply chain management without compromising safety, compliance, and product quality.
  • We ensure that our DT platforms include humans as part of the decision-making process and strongly support policies that ensure humans are not removed from decision processes that could impact health outcomes.
  • We do not permit any information provided by third parties to be used in publicly available large language models or machine learning models, nor do we sell to third parties any data that is shared with us.
  • We assign clear accountability for the oversight of DT systems, including risk management and performance monitoring.

We are committed to engaging with stakeholders to promote transparency in our DT usage and to addressing any concerns or questions about its application.
